Happy Independence Day!!

We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July. Celebrate our great nation. We are so thankful we live in the best country on planet earth. Hope we can keep it.

G was mowing the grass and noticed bees flying all around him. He looked closer and saw a swarm on the ground. Thank goodness he didn't mow over it. We went to Rural King real quick and bought another hive. He scooped up the bees and dumped them in the new hive. Evidently he got the queen because the rest of the swarm went right into the hive.

The bees have stayed in the hive! So now we have 3 bee hives. Can't wait for more honey.

We got our baby meat chicks. 15 fluffy butts.

I freeze dried some chives, dill, dill heads and oregano

Most of the garden is doing great. The cabbage and brussels sprouts aren't doing very well. I have been fighting with cabbage worms. The spinach and peas are just about gone.

Our corn is taller than knee high by the 4th of July

I pulled the garlic. Not as many came up as I had hoped but it was from volunteer garlic last year so I am not going to complain. It is drying in the barn. I will use the biggest cloves to plant this fall for next years harvest.  I have not bought any garlic for years.

We did get some hoofs trimmed. It has been so hot and we need some rain. We try to do most of our chores early in the morning. That is about it for our exciting life here on the farm.

How was your week?
