FRIDAY FARM REPORT 6/17/2022

Happy Father's Day!!

All of us on the farm want to wish all the dads, stepdads, grandpas, uncles and anyone filling the father role in a child's life the most Happy Father's Day!

What is one word to describe this week? HOT!! Smothering hot. It has been in the 90's with a heat index as high as 109. I hate the heat as much as I hate the cold. We finally turned on the air conditioning. We have tried to hold off because of the high electric bill.

We got the girls barn cleaned. I didn't last as long as G and the boys. Once again I am going to give kudos to these young boys. They volunteer all the time to help us do things around the farm. They are hard workers. They come over sometimes to just hang out. It is nice for a couple of old folks to have some youngins just give of their time. It is more valuable than gold.

I got me a new outfit! Now don't be too jealous. If I have to help with the bees I want to be covered from head to toe.

My strawberries are going crazy. I freeze dried 3 trays. I need to go pick some more. I need to make another bed to plant the runners.

We had a wicked storm the other night. Our glass table got shattered. G took some barn wood and is making a new top.

I got the herb bed all planted. I planted Mexican Sour Gherkin cucumbers in the spot with the trellis, then lettuce, Cantaloupe, Kale, oregano, thyme, dill, parsley, basil, and cilantro.

They have putting in water lines all week. We have decided to keep the well.

This part of the new space we made to expand the garden. There is sweet potatoes, potatoes, cabbage, brussels sprouts, asparagus, lettuce, onion and beets in this end. We used grow bags

The other end has raised beds with tomatoes. G put up the cattle panel trellis this morning

Strawberries, lima beans, watermelon, butter beans, cantaloupe, peppers, garlic and a bunch of tomatoes

Cucumbers, watermelon, zucchini, cantaloupe, peas, yellow squash more lima beans

Three beds of the 3 sisters. The left has corn, yard long beans and watermelon. Middle has corn, purple beans and butternut squash. Right bed has corn, spaghetti squash and kentucky wonder green beans

Blueberries are starting to ripen.

That's it for this week. How was your week?
