FRIDAY FARM REPORT 2/9/18

39 Days until Spring!!!

Maggie seems to have turned the corner and is getting better. For a couple of days we weren't sure she was going to make it. She wasn't eating so I made her some rice and chicken. She did eat that. It seemed to give her some energy. But now she won't eat her dog food. I mixed some chicken in with her food last night. She ate that with no problem. She still won't eat her food. I'm thinking now she got spoiled and won't eat unless she has chicken in it.

I made some citrus basil guest bar soap. Here are all my supplies ready to go. Frozen goat milk, oils, lye, colorants, fragrance oil, thermometer, mold, spatula, gloves and not pictured is the stick blender.

The bowl on the left is the milk and lye. The bowl on the right is the oils warmed up. It is coconut oil, olive oil, lard, castor oil and shea butter.

When the oils and the lye/ milk mixtures are within 10 degrees of each other, the lye mixture is poured into the oils. I use a stick blender until it reaches trace. I add the fragrance oil and colorants.

It is then poured into the mold.

I leave it in the mold for 24 hours. Freeze for 24 hours. Remove from mold and let it sit for 24 hours. Then I cut it into the squares and let it cure for minimum of 4 weeks

How was your week?
