More fall cleanup

G got his new chainsaw so it was time to clean up and cut down some dead trees. Our farmhands were going to help me bake some bread. I knew I lost them when G fired up the chainsaw.  Tell me of a boy that would prefer baking bread over chainsaws and tractor. I made honey wheat bread. It was so dense you could use it for a boat anchor. I didn't like it but G did so that is what matters.

The front had a row of apple and pear trees that G's grandpa planted many many years ago. A lot of them have died. Between each tree is our pet cemetery. G and the farmhands cut down a couple of the totally dead trees. They also cut down a dead willow on the side

They cut out the lilac bush on the corner of the house. We laid black plastic hoping it will kill all the grass over the winter. Next spring we will add compost, weed barrier and plants and flowers.

The boys loved cutting with the chainsaw. G has a 16", 10" and 6" chainsaws. They tried them all. The boys drove the tractor loaded with branches to the burn pile

M1 used the 16" saw

M2 using the 10" saw

We had some snow. L built a goat turd laden snowman. Xena destroyed it.

Then the firebugs enjoyed a big fire.

We had our craft show last Saturday. We did very well. Sold out of a bunch of items.

I had to get busy and make soap this week. Curing for minimum 4 weeks.

4 loaves ready to be cut. I have 3 in the molds yet to be unmolded. I still have about 10 more batches to make.

We hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving. I know we have so much to be thankful for.

How was your week?
